How To Watch Trump’s Flint Town Hall Tonight

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a town hall event in Flint, Michigan tonight, marking his first public appearance since a second assassination attempt on his life, this time in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sunday.
Now only 48 days away from the 2024 Presidential election, the town hall will give insight into the tone of the election going into the home stretch and will be a key area of focus as polls show the former president lagging slightly behind Kamala Harris.
The town hall event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. E.D.T. In-person attendees are advised to arrive early due to the expected large crowds and increased security screenings.
Flint, Michigan, a key battleground location, has been chosen as the venue for this significant gathering.
The latest presidential poll of 800 Michigan registered voters, conducted by InsiderAdvantage, show Donald Trump holding a one-point lead over the vice president, edging Harris 49 percent to 48 percent.
The Dort Financial Center, which is hosting the event, has made arrangements to accommodate the security protocols and facilitate a smooth flow of participants and guests in the wake of Sunday’s incident.
“We work hand in hand with our local partners. We set up plans. We work together to ensure safety for any of our politicians, regardless of who it is,” Colonel James Grady, the director of Michigan State Police, told WNEM 5. “It can be a difficult and challenging time, but we’ll do our best to keep everybody safe.”
The town hall will be aired live across several major news networks and online platforms to ensure wide accessibility for viewers.
Several major news networks, including Fox News, MSNBC, and C-SPAN, will provide live coverage of the town hall event. Their websites and applications will also offer live streaming options for viewers.
The event will also be available for live streaming on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
Right Side Broadcasting Network, a channel dedicated to livestreaming Trump rallies, will host the town hall on YouTube.
Why Does This Town Hall Matter?
The town hall comes after the second apparent attempt on Trump’s life in as many months, and many viewers will be awaiting his comments on the incident and the charged rhetoric that has defined the election.
On September 15, 2024, Trump was the target of an apparent assassination attempt while playing golf at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The suspect was identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old from Hawaii who had previously called for Trump’s assassination in his 2023 book.
The town hall also comes during a critical period for the Trump campaign.
According to polling website FiveThirtyEight on Monday, Harris leads Trump nationally 48.1 percent to 45.3 percent.
However, a lot rides on the election’s six swing states – Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Pennsylvania – together worth 77 electoral college votes, and 270toWin gives Harris a slight edge in four of these battlegrounds.
The town hall is expected to feature several prominent political figures and local leaders, and will be moderated by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Sanders was appointed White House Press Secretary under President Donald Trump in 2017, and was the primary spokesperson for the administration before being succeeded by Stephanie Grisham in July 2019.
Trump is expected to take questions from the audience, and his remarks will likely focus on local issues in Michigan, as well as the state of the 2024 election.
Key issues to be discussed during the town hall include the auto industry, a crucial sector for Michigan’s economy, and inflation, which remains significant concern for voters nationwide.
Michigan, with its significant immigrant population that comprises approximately 6.9% of the state’s residents according American Immigration Council, is also likely to elicit comments from Trump on the matter.
However, the latest assassination attempt will hang over the former president’s appearance, with many questions still circling about the suspects motives, the Secret Service’s competence and whether this will be the last instance of political violence in this election.
