Vintage: circa 1890-1920: CORBIN HARDWARE, has a brass faceplate, works great, push button entry mortise lock and it comes with one functioning key. Uncommon Corbin Model # 1240 1/4, shows in the box casting on the inside of the lock. Excellent lock and one of that is not so easily found, particularly in this condition.
The lock is reversible. Heavy brass Japanned faceplate with body of the lock clearly maker marked Corbin one of America's many high quality manufacturers of builder's hardware during the second half of the 19th Century and early 20th Century.
Dimensions as follows:
Brass front plate measures 6 3/8" long, 1 1/16" wide, 1/8" thick.
From the center of the key hole to the center of the knob post hole is 3".
Box is 3 1/2" deep from the back of the front plate and it is 4 1/8" top to bottom. Screws are on 5 3/8" centers. Step back from the front of the front plate to the center of the knob post hole is 2 3/4". The lock is made for a split swivel knob post with a 5/16" square post.
(This is a well made mortise lock. Let us know if you need a set of knobs or a swivel knob post, etc., we have plenty of pieces in inventory.)
Clean, no rust, functions very well, heavy duty and with keys!
